Los Angeles Lakers president Magic Johnson gave LeBron James his due props after making history by moving past the great Wilt Chamberlain in the all-time scoring list.

LeBron James and Wilt Chamberlain are two of the most imposing players to have ever stepped on a basketball court. They both changed how the game was played during their prime with James inspiring a generation of players his size to become more versatile and Chamberlain influencing a number of rule changes back in the day.

For his part, Magic Johnson, too, was a generational player. His combination of size, leadership, basketball IQ, and playmaking made him one of the most unique players ever. Ironically, Johnson's current superstar in James is also of the same mold, making them a great pairing in terms of a team's executive and star player.

Ahead of LeBron James in the career scoring list are Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Karl Malone, and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. See the trend? Lakers fans should and they must be very proud of it as all of the players above, including Chamberlain and excluding Jordan, have all donned the purple and gold jersey at one point in their careers. An asterisk may be placed beside Malone who only suited up for one season in Los Angeles during the twilight of his career.

This goes to show the elite fraternity that the Lakers organization foster. Other than the greats mentioned above, there are also Jerry West, Elgin Baylor, Shaquille O'Neal, James Worthy, and the list goes on.

LeBron James is on year one of the four he's signed up in Hollywood. He has all the time in the world to make his own mark for one of the league's most storied franchises. His legend is still growing and we're all witnesses.
