The Los Angeles Lakers have a lot of retooling to do this offseason. But they've settled in on at least one key decision. Darvin Ham is now their next head coach.

The news comes from a report from ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. LA is locking him up to a four-year deal.

The news of the move got a handful of purple and gold faithful excited, including a certain LeBron James as well as Lakers icon Magic Johnson who was quick to react to the news.

I’m excited that the Lakers just hired Darvin Ham as the coach. Congratulations!!

Darvin Ham is no stranger to the Lakers organization. He spent two seasons as an assistant coach for the club from 2011 to 2013, serving under both Mike Brown and Mike D'Antoni.

From there, he became a disciple of yet another Mike, current Milwaukee Bucks head coach Mike Budenholzer, sticking with coach Bud from his early days with the Atlanta Hawks up until the post-championship Bucks run with Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Now with over a decade of experience from the sidelines as an assistant, Darvin Ham is ready to step up to the plate as the main decision-maker for a franchise with lofty aspirations next season.
