Earvin “Magic” Johnson is still helping the Los Angeles Lakers. Johnson stepped down as the team's president of basketball operations on April 10. However, he's still doing whatever he could to help the team's cause.

Johnson made this clear during an interview with TMZ (via Silver Screen & Roll's Harrison Faigen) on April 21.

‘No. The same,' Johnson said when asked if he would've done things any differently if he had them to do over again. ‘Everybody knows I love the Lakers, and so I'm gonna always help them.

‘Like right now, I'm gonna still help them. I love my team, I love my franchise, and I love this city.

‘You have to do things sometimes on your own terms. It doesn't matter what other people think, see? And I'm that guy. But I'm still helping them.

‘It's almost like I never left (laughs). I'm still talking to them every day,' Johnson continued. ‘I'm gonna help them get the Lakers back right, you can believe that.'

Johnson said he still has a soft spot for Jeanie Buss, per TMZ (via Silver Screen & Roll).

I love Jeanie. I've been talking to her almost every day. I'm trying to help. Listen, I may not be in there physically, but I'm still there.

Faigen stresses this substantiates rumors Johnson will help the Lakers during free agency. Los Angeles signed the likes of Lance Stephenson, JaVale McGee, and Tyson Chandler last year. Even with four-time MVP LeBron James on board, the Lakers missed the playoffs for the sixth straight year.

Johnson could help the Lakers lure big-name free agents such as Kyrie Irving, Kemba Walker, and Klay Thompson into the fold.

Even if Johnson is no longer the Lakers' president, he's bleeds Purple and Gold. He made that clear to TMZ. Just when you thought you've seen the last of Magic as a member of the Lakers' front office, he says he'll help the team anyway he can.

Lakers fans can only hope Johnson's behind-the-scenes presence produces more wins in the 2019-2020 NBA season.
