The Los Angeles Lakers have reportedly reached out to D'Angelo Russell's agents at CAA to set up a meeting with the All-Star guard, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN.

The Lakers and Russell share a mutual interest in a reunion. Los Angeles opened up a third max slot on Thursday after agreeing to a trade with the Washington Wizards.

Russell averaged 21.1 points, 3.9 rebounds and 7.0 assists this past season with the Brooklyn Nets while shooting 43.4 percent from the field, 36.9 percent from beyond the arc and 78.0 percent from the free-throw line. The lefty is a different player and man off the court than he was when he was drafted by the Lakers back in 2015.

Russell actually reached out to Lakers star LeBron James last offseason for advice on how to be a better player, both on and off the court. It would be a fascinating storyline if Russell ends up back with the Lakers, who are still in play for Kawhi Leonard. LA does need a point guard, as they traded Lonzo Ball to the New Orleans Pelicans in the blockbuster Anthony Davis trade.

Free agency starts on Sunday. Laker Nation is anxious to see who the Lakers are going to add.
