Many believe the Los Angeles Lakers and Brooklyn Nets are headed for a collision course in the NBA Finals. While it’s way too early to bank on such, it’s hard to blame overly excited pundits for placing their money on the possibility.

LeBron James and Anthony Davis now have Russell Westbrook on their side, matching up with the Nets’ Big 3 of Kevin Durant, James Harden, and Kyrie Irving. However, Harden knows the Lakers still need to figure out how to make things work with their new-look roster.

Via SNY:

“They got to figure out the fit. On paper, they look great. They got vets, guys with experience. We got the same thing.”

Harden went through the same path when the Nets added him last season to bolster the Durant-Irving duo. The Lakers not only have Westbrook to incorporate but a slew of other stars led by Carmelo Anthony and DeAndre Jordan.

The return of Dwight Howard and Rajon Rondo makes it easier in terms of chemistry since they are a couple of veterans who are very familiar with the Lakers. They’ve won with this core, so they know what it takes to get to the top.

There are plenty of parallels between the Lakers and Nets, so the idea of these two star-laden teams meeting in a seven-game series should make fans and the league itself froth.

The Lakers and Nets will open up their preseason against each other. However, it should be expected that a number of key players will either get very limited minutes or none at all. Their first regular-season tilt will be on Christmas Day.
