Even with former Los Angeles Lakers icon Kobe Bryant gone for more than a year, the late All-Star is still breaking records in any way he can. Case in point, a recent report from eBay about the number of Kobe Bryant cards sold since the start of 2021.

Lakers: Kobe Bryant Cards 2021

In an article posted on Sports Collectors Daily, nearly 250,000 of Kobe Bryant cards were sold on the eCommerce platform this year. The report added that these cards were either auctioned off or purchased directly from the seller. Moreover, eBay stated that the company has recorded more than 15 million searches for Bryant’s cards.

Sports cards and memorabilia items of the late Los Angeles Lakers’ star have been in demand since Bryant passed away in early 2020. Interest in these items was also reignited among sports enthusiasts after the five-time NBA champion was inducted recently into the Hall of Fame.

Along with the massive number of his cards in the market, rare Kobe Bryant offerings are also commanding a high price on eBay. Just this week, a PSA 10 Topps Chrome rookie card of the Black Mamba sold for $19,950. While the price is high enough as it is, the value of the said card has been on a downtrend in recent months. Just last March, the same card with a similar PSA 10 grade was sold for $38,000.

While the card market is currently on a downward trend, which can be seen from Bryant’s declining price in the past months, the staggering number of his sold cards is already an impressive feat that deserves credit. This goes to show that the Lakers legend's legacy and accomplishments in the NBA still possess a strong draw among card collectors.
