Pau Gasol became extremely close to Kobe Bryant during their time together with the Los Angeles Lakers. This resulted in not only two championships, but a lifetime of friendship as well.

Recently, Gasol performed an incredible gesture in honor of Gigi Bryant — the daughter of Kobe who also passed during that tragic helicopter crash. last January. The Spanish national decided to send a cake to the Bryant family to honor what would have been Gigi's 14th birthday on Friday.

That's pretty awesome from Pau Gasol, and we're certain that this was received with much gratitude by Kobe's widow Vanessa and their other three daughters.

There's no doubt that Gasol was left heartbroken by the untimely passing of Bryant and his daughter in January, and this small gesture from his end is his way of commemorating the lives that were lost during that fateful day.

Gasol joined Kobe in L.A. in 2008, and upon his arrival, it was clear that he was the missing piece in the Lakers puzzle. The team went all the way to the Finals that same season but fell to the Boston Celtics in a heartbreaking six-game series.

Pau, Kobe and the rest of the Lakers went on to avenge their Finals defeat soon after, as they won back-to-back titles over the next two seasons. The cherry on top of the cake was that their second title came at the expense of the Celtics.

Gasol and Kobe parted ways in 2014, when the former signed with the Chicago Bulls as a free agent. Despite the separation though, they remained true friends and brothers off the court.
