The Los Angeles Lakers will notably open the 2019-20 regular season on Tuesday evening while taking on All-Star forward Kawhi Leonard and the crosstown rival Los Angeles Clippers. However, the Lakers will be without the services of veteran NBA point guard Rajon Rondo, who has been dealing with a sore left calf.

On the other end of the floor, the Clippers will be without a big piece of the puzzle as well with recently acquired small forward Paul George will also miss opening night. George has been dealing with a lingering shoulder injury. The Clippers notably acquired the longtime Indiana Pacers standout in a massive offseason trade with the Oklahoma City Thunder this past offseason.

George underwent offseason shoulder surgery and is currently expected to miss the first few weeks of the 2019-20 regular season.

The 33-year-old Rondo is gearing up to begin his second season as a member of the Lakers after a lengthy stint as a member of the Boston Celtics, where he won an NBA title.

Between his time in Boston and Los Angeles, Rondo suited up for the Dallas Mavericks, Sacramento Kings, Chicago Bulls and New Orleans Pelicans. A wizard with the basketball in his hands, the Lakers will surely miss Rondo's ability to dish the rock against the Clippers.

It is also worth noting that with Lakers forward Kyle Kuzma already having been ruled out, the Clippers will be without the services of guard Rodney McGruder and swingman Amir Coffee, who both encountered right ankle sprains ahead of the Los Angeles-based clash.
