The one thing that LeBron James has been very vocal about is his desire to play with one of his sons. Two years prior to this NBA Draft, it was a foregone conclusion that the Los Angeles Lakers might be the ones to land Bronny James. Now, the situation has shifted due to draft orders and The King's desire to enter free agency. For Robert Horry, this does not change anything. He outlines that Rob Pelinka's organization should still gun for the young player out of Andy Enfield's USC basketball program.

Bronny James is not the most attractive prospect to most. After his showing at USC, he only averaged 4.8 points on a horrid 36.6% clip from all three levels of the field. What made it worse was that, for someone who was slated to be a shooter, his stroke from outside only saw the bottom of the net 26.7% of the time. Entering the NBA Draft, any team knows that LeBron James' son is a raw prospect.

Even Robert Horry acknowledges these facts. But, he notes that the Lakers have nothing to lose, via The Dan Patrick Show.

“If you look at this draft, if I tell you to give me the top five picks you couldn't do it. You know you don't know who's going to be in the top picks. In this draft, I hate to say it, but it's kind of weak. So why not take a chance on Bronny James? Because, everybody across the league right now, each draft pick is going to be a project player,” the Lakers legend declared.

There is a point that Robert Horry gets across here. Not a single one of these prospects is guaranteed to be stars anyway. So, the best bet that Rob Pelinka and the Lakers have in the coming NBA Draft is to try to get LeBron James to stay. All while they also get a shot to develop his son. After all, they can still contend given the right pieces. They might even see a different side of The King on the court. This is because he will try to show his son the proper way of surviving in the league.

Should the Lakers do it?

The Purple and Gold have the 17th pick in the looming NBA Draft. They have to fix their woes in terms of shooting and depth anyway. But, a main concern that they will have is trying to please their fan base alongside Anthony Davis. Both of those factors will only be satiated if the Lakers get a sniff of the Larry O'Brien trophy once again.

But, there are other ways for them to bring in better talent. Free Agency is coming up and the Lakers are always going to be big in terms of trade talks. So, Horry pushes that the move to draft James is not at all a bad idea at this point.

“There's not one cut guy that gonna say, ‘Oh he's a game changer like Wembanyama. He's a game changer like Zion.' There are no game-changers. So, why not take a chance and roll the dice?” the Lakers legend concluded.

There is a lot of uncertainty that the future holds. But, they could give the former USC player a shot if there is not much direction in what type of personnel they are trying to get in the NBA Draft.
