Chicago Bulls legend Scottie Pippen went off earlier this week, claiming that former coach Phil Jackson is a racist who discriminated against him on the basketball court. Now, Robert Horry, who played under Jackson with the Lakers, is coming to his defense, per TMZ.

“I don’t think Phil is racist at all. I don’t.”

However, Horry did trackback to a time where Phil Jackson did say some questionable things on the sidelines:

“We were in the huddle and Phil was like, ‘You need to know the sound of your master’s voice,'” Horry said on the ‘Big Shot Bob Pod’ on PodcastOne. “I looked at him, I was like, ‘Whoa, whoa, whoa, nah, we don’t do that. I’m from the South.”

“I said, ‘Dude, that’s too close, that’s too close,’ and I knew where Phil Jackson was trying to come across as saying, because, in the arenas, you need to understand and hear your person that is trying to lead you.”

Despite all of that, Horry believes Pippen was wrong to say Phil Jackson is racial. As for the master comments, the former Lakers and Bulls boss was referred to as the “Zen Master” for his unique coaching techniques. That’s likely what he was trying to insinuate in the huddle.

Don’t worry Phil Jackson, Robert Horry has your back.
