Rui Hachimura is not expected to see action this Wednesday against the Los Angeles Clippers, but he's already given LA fans a glimpse of himself donning the team's Purple and Gold during a workout at Crypto.com Arena.
Rui Hachimura is not nursing any injury, with the Lakers merely just trying to find the best time for their shiny new weapon to acclimate enough to his new professional surroundings. The Lakers sent Kendrick Nunn, his expiring contract, and three second-round picks to the Washington Wizards earlier this week to acquire the 24-year-old former Gonzaga Bulldogs star.
The expectation for the Lakers is that Rui Hachimura will be able to provide ample production once he starts seeing action on the floor for the team. With the Clippers game out of the picture for Rui Hachimura to make his Lakers debut, the soonest LA fans can see him officially suit up for a game for his new team on Wednesday night when Los Angeles host Gregg Popovich and the San Antonio Spurs.
Hachimura spent his first three and a half seasons in the NBA with the Wizards who selected him ninth overall in the first round of the 2019 NBA Draft. Before he parted ways with his original NBA team, he averaged 13.0 points on 48.8 percent shooting from the field, 4.3 rebounds, and 1.2 assists per game in the 2022-23 NBA season.
Hachimura joins the Lakers' forward room as someone who can add needed firepower to the team's offense while also helping ease the load on defense off the shoulders of LeBron James.
