Should the Los Angeles Lakers win the NBA Finals. NBA legend Scottie Pippen has a “clear choice” on who should win Finals MVP between LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
Speaking to Rachel Nichols on ESPN's The Jump, Pippen explained why in his mind, LeBron is the easy pick to win the award:
Scottie Pippen on who should win Finals MVP if the Lakers win the series: "The whole team for being in that damn Bubble." 😂
Scottie then adds: "I have to take my hat off to LeBron James – he's my clear choice" pic.twitter.com/4qawcsYDXn— Rachel Nichols (@Rachel__Nichols) October 7, 2020
Scottie Pippen is primarily banking on the narrative of LeBron James doing amazing things in Year 17. The Chicago Bulls legend has been left in awe with what LeBron has been doing for the Lakers throughout the season at such an advanced stage in his career, and even more so now in the Finals. Pip also joked about how the entire LA squad deserves a ton of credit for living through the many challenges inside the bubble.

Brian Windhorst of ESPN and LeBron's former teammate Richard Jefferson were the other guests in the interview, and they too picked LeBron as their unanimous choice. In their minds, Anthony Davis may be having a tremendous Finals series for L.A., but it's hard to deny that James is still the best player on the team.
Jefferson makes a good point about the series not being over just yet. The Lakers have a seemingly insurmountable 3-1 series advantage, but simply put, the job is not done yet. L.A. still need one more win to get their hands on the title, and surely, this is the most important thing in the mind of both LeBron and Davis.
If anything, the Finals MVP trophy is nothing more than icing on the cake.
