Kobe and his daughter Gigi were among the five people killed in the helicopter crash. According to reports, a fire broke out before the vehicle crashed. Investigation is said to be ongoing.

Shaquille O'Neal played with Kobe Bryant on the Lakers from 1996 to 2004, forming one of the most dynamic and unstoppable duos in the league. While their relationship during their playing days is not the best, they were undoubtedly successful playing alongside each other.

They won three championships together from 2000 to 2002, headlining a dominant era for the Purple and Gold franchise.

Fellow Lakers great Kareem Abdul-Jabbar also spoke out about the accident and credited Kobe for inspiring “a whole generation of basketball players.” Moreover, he noted that he will always remember Kobe as someone “who is much more than an athlete.”
