Anthony Davis' intentions have become quite clear for the rest of the league — any team that doesn't boast the purple and gold is of no interest to him long-term. League executives have been gathering intel of the New Orleans Pelicans star and they have all come to the conclusion that he only plans to re-sign a long-term deal with the Los Angeles Lakers, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski and Zach Lowe.

“Teams interested in trading for Davis — including the Boston Celtics — are in full fact-finding mode and the intel coming back is this, sources tell ESPN: Davis' plan is to treat any trade destination as a one-year stop — except, of course, the Lakers. Teams are learning that Davis' stated intention will be to play the season elsewhere if traded outside of the Lakers, but move to the Lakers as a free agent in 2020.”

One would think this puts the Lakers in a huge advantage, but the Boston Celtics; who are this team's greatest threat at nabbing Davis from the Pelicans' hands, have shown no signs of backing down from fearlessly going after him this summer.

The Celtics would likely be forced to promise a package involving Jayson Tatum, the one prospect the Pelicans are lusting after, but president Danny Ainge is secretly hoping to keep him to form a Big Three with Davis and Kyrie Irving.

Boston, however, would have to operate with the lingering fear that Davis would be gone after one season with the Celtics, putting all the more pressure into delivering a championship in hopes of having that one primordial reason to keep him there.
