We are living in crazy times but some people just want to make things a little crazier. On Monday, an anonymous Instagram account (@witness.kevin.durant) decided it was funny to post a serious death threat pointed towards four-time NBA Champion LeBron James of the Los Angeles Lakers.

The now-deleted IG post, showed a gun and included a narration on how the anonymous user planned to assassinate LeBron. The user went pretty detailed with his narration, too. Trigger warning.

“On Thursday, February 19th, I will be going to a Nets vs Lakers game. I will sneak this gun showed in the picture into the arena and shoot @kingjames in the head during a timeout. You have been warned @kingjames.” the user posted (via @KendrickPBurner on Twitter).

That's just creepy, crazy, and disconcerting all in one.

Fortunately, it seemed that the user was just trolling as the account posted an apology quickly after deleting the initial IG post about the Lakers superstar.

“I'd like to publicly apologize for threatening LeBron AS A JOKE. I've come to realize things like these aren't jokes and can be taken very seriously. I have over 500 requests after going private because someone posted it on Twitter. Y'all can hate on me all y'all want but I truly apologize and if I could go back in time and think before posting something like that I would.” the user said after issuing the threat at the Lakers star

Let's just give this person the benefit of the doubt and hope all is well in his/her headspace. Just in case it still needs to be said, these things aren't joking matters and shouldn't be taken lightly. It wouldn't hurt to have the Lakers' security stay on high alert for King James, though.

Man, social media is just plain wild. Don't let the internet and clout consume you, folks.
