Vanessa Bryant, the widow of Los Angeles Lakers icon Kobe Bryant, has reached a settlement with the helicopter company that owns the aircraft that crashed and killed her husband, daughter Gianna and seven others last January 2020.

According to a report by KABC-TV, Vanessa and the families of the other victims have filed a “joint notice of settlement and joint request to vacate discovery deadlines” on Tuesday.

“Plaintiffs and Defendants jointly report that they have agreed to settle their claims in the above-entitled action,” the the parties stated in the document.

Details of the settlement were not disclosed, as it was noted confidential.

This is in line with the lawsuit that the wife of the Lakers legend filed against Island Express Helicopters following the deadly crash last year. In the lawsuit, it was stated that the owner-operator “directed and/or permitted a flight with full knowledge that the subject helicopter was flying into unsafe weather conditions.”

Kobe Bryant's shocking death with her daughter rocked not only the Lakers fanbase but the whole world. Kobe and Gigi along with her classmates and their families were on their way to the Mamba Academy in Thousand Oaks, California before the helicopter they were riding hit the hillside in Calabasas and eventually crash. There were no survivors in the tragic accident, including the pilot Ara Zobayan.

Hopefully, with the settlement, the families of the victims can finally move on.

As for Vanessa Bryant, she has another lawsuit to tackle after she sued the LA County for negligence and invasion privacy over allegations that deputies from the department shared graphic photos of the crash site and its victims.
