Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James knows that their job isn't finished.
Even though the Lakers pulled off a huge blowout win over the Miami Heat in Game 1 of the NBA Finals, James wasn't pleased and was all business as he headed to the locker room following the showdown.
“We ain't satisfied. I don't like the way we played tonight, actually,” James said as he walked to the dugout. “I liked the way we played in that second quarter [and] third quarter. But the way we ended, that's unacceptable.”
LeBron James nitpicking on an NBA Finals win shouldn't come as a surprise to fans, as he has been on the said stage quite a number of times already.
When the game looked all but settled, the Heat made a late run through their reserve unit in the fourth quarter. Miami ended up outscoring the Lakers 31-23 in the final frame, which didn't bode well with the three-time Finals MVP. Obviously, the late surge wasn't enough for the Heat as they ultimately still fell with a 116-98 loss.
It was Miami who drew first blood, as they were up as big as 13 early in the game. However, the Lakers used their outside shooting to claw their way back and get the lead. They found themselves up by as much as 17 at the half.
Los Angeles rode that second quarter momentum and continued their hot-shooting in the third quarter.
James finished the game with another all-around performance of 25 points, 13 rebounds and nine assists — just one assist shy from another NBA Finals triple-double. Teammate Anthony Davis also had quite a night, tallying 34 points, nine rebounds and three blocks.
All in all, it was a solid win for the Lakers. Nonetheless, if you're in James' shoes, you know that you have to continue to put on the pressure until the final buzzer sounds.
For what it's worth, James looking as locked in and hungry as he is now, at this point of his career, is definitely a scary sight.
