LeBron James was mic'd up during his Los Angeles Lakers debut Thursday night against the Portland Trail Blazers, and the four-time MVP said something very inspirational to his teammates on the court.
You often hear veteran players say when they fall to the ground after getting fouled while going to the rim, they stay on the floor for a little bit to catch their breath and recover. Well, James wants his new teammates to stay on the ground for another reason.
“Anytime y'all fall, stay down,” James said. “Your brothers come pick you up.”
This is exactly why LeBron James is not only the best player in the game, but arguably the greatest leader in sports. His ability to galvanise his teammates and bring everyone together is unmatched.
James is going to have to do a lot of teaching this season. This is a young Lakers team he is on. Luckily for James, he has Rajon Rondo on his side to help.
LeBron James signed a four year deal with the Lakers in July. He knows it's going to be a process to get this team to become a championship contender. Little moments like this are a great way to bring the team together, and they don't go unnoticed.
