With the Los Angeles Lakers sitting back for the NBA Finals this year and watching the Suns take on the Bucks, there have undoubtedly already been discussions internally on what to do this offseason so LA can get back to the promise land.
One area of focus for the Lakers should be the point guard spot as it appears from all indications that Dennis Schroder won't be returning.
According to The Undefeated, there have been talks about bringing Wizards point guard Russell Westbrook to the Lakers via a sign-and-trade this summer.
There have also been talks about Washington Wizards star Russell Westbrook being a potential candidate to move back home to Los Angeles in a sign-and-trade deal that could include free agent point guard Dennis Schroder, forward Kyle Kuzma and guard Talen Horton-Tucker, sources said.
Adding Westbrook to a lineup alongside LeBron James and Anthony Davis would catapult the Lakers right back to the top of the landscape in the Western Conference. The only way for it to happen is via a sign-and-trade as LA would have to mix and match with the Wizards.
Westbrook is coming off another really solid season, this time in D.C. with the Wizards. The spark plug guard averaged a triple-double for the season again and led the NBA in assists at 11.7 per game. Adding him to the Lakers could really shake things up in the West. Expect more of these reports and rumors to gain steam with free agency inching ever closer along with the NBA draft.
