Unlike the past few years, it didn't take long for the biggest names in NBA free agency to make their decisions on where they'd be playing next season. Superstar LeBron James wasted no time as he agreed to terms on a four-year deal with the Los Angeles Lakers after spending a few hours with Magic Johnson whom he invited to his home this past weekend.

However, there's been an interesting development that has surfaced a few days before James can officially sign his $154 million deal with the Lakers. According to Yahoo Sports' Jordan Schultz, LeBron has yet to meet with or even speak to head coach Luke Walton.

Walton is coming off his second season with the team and is widely regarded to be a coach with a bright future in the NBA. Although Walton has been unable to end the playoff drought as of yet, the former Lakers forward has earned high praise for what he's been able to accomplish thus far in Los Angeles. He has the team on the right path along with the respect of his players and the front office.

Obviously, news like this will spark some questions as to whether the team may be considering a coaching change or if LeBron has turned Magic's attention to a potential candidate. There was some speculation during the 2017-18 NBA season that David Fizdale could be in line to replace Walton, but he ultimately decided to take the head coaching gig with the New York Knicks.

Despite the speculation that's bound to follow this news, no contact between Walton and James may be only a matter of timing. LeBron couldn't be contacted by Walton before July 1 and now he's on vacation with his family, so there could've only been a small window to be in touch.

Much like a lot of the news and rumors that surfaces around this time of year, this is likely not a big deal nor something that should be read into too much at this point.
