ESPN insider Brian Windhorst says there is almost no one in the NBA that thinks Anthony Davis is not going to re-sign with the Los Angeles Lakers next summer.

Davis can become an unrestricted free agent next offseason if he declines his 2020-21 player option with the Lakers. AD is widely expected to decline his $28.8 million player option since he can make more money on the open market:

Like Windhorst said, it would shock a lot of people around the league if Davis doesn’t re-sign with the Lakers. LeBron James signed a four-year deal with Los Angeles in the summer of 2018. James has a player option for the 2021-22 season, one which he will likely pick up unless something drastically changes in LA.

LeBron and Davis, of course, have the same agent — Rich Paul of Klutch Sports. The two superstars are eager to bring banner No. 17 to the Lakers this season. LA is 5-1 on the campaign entering Tuesday’s matchup against the Chicago Bulls.

Davis has only been past the first round of the playoffs once in his career. With the Lakers, AD is hoping to win multiple championships and add to his already impressive résumé.

A six-time All-Star, Davis has career averages of 23.8 points, 10.5 rebounds, 2.1 assists and 2.4 blocks. The Brow is putting up 28.5 points and 11.5 rebounds through the team’s first six games of this season.
