As another trade deadline is fast approaching, rival teams have inquired about the availability of Brandon Ingram of the Los Angeles Lakers.

Speaking on The Sedano Show, NBA insider Shams Charania revealed that several rival teams have inquired about the 21-year-old for a possible trade. Despite several setbacks this season, teams see still Ingram as a serious prospect. Rumors surrounding him have heightened as the Feb. 7 trade deadline draws near.

“Brandon Ingram, obviously he’s had a little bit of an up and down season. He missed some time with injury, the suspension earlier in the year, but still, I think, around the league he has a value as a prospect. A lot of teams still believe in him. He does still come up when teams inquire with the Lakers.”

The Lakers have made it clear that they are not willing to break off their young core comprised of Ingram, Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma, and Josh Hart — not unless they get an All-Star caliber player in return who can co-exist with LeBron James. Anthony Davis of the New Orleans Pelicans has been a favorite subject among Lakers trade rumors.

Analysts believe that an elite player like Davis would immediately propel the Lakers into a championship caliber team — something that would definitely please James who's probably in his last four years as a pro. The consensus, however, is that the Lakers will likely wait until the summer to make big moves — be it a free agent signing or a blockbuster trade. Until that time comes, expect Ingram to continue donning the purple and gold.
