There have been a lot of stories surrounding Russell Westbrook and his disappointing debut season with the Los Angeles Lakers last term. Several of these narratives centered around the former league MVP's unwillingness to take constructive criticism from the team, particularly from the coaching staff.

NBA insider Jovan Buha of The Athletic (via Jonathan Sherman of Lakers Daily) has added more fuel to this flame by revealing just how shocking Westbrook's behavior was during team film sessions throughout the 2021-22 season. Let's just say that Russ isn't exactly the most receptive when it comes to negative feedback:

“From stuff I heard last season, like during film sessions, he would you know push back on stuff that was very obvious of like, ‘Hey, you missed this defensive rotation,'” Buha said. “He did not like being the center of attention in those film sessions.”

I can almost hear Westbrook clapping back at his coaches whenever he feels like he's being attacked. This was pretty much how Russ was towards the media last season, as he got very defensive toward the press on more than a few occasions.

This is likely one of the reasons why Westbrook's first season with the Lakers didn't work out. It's also no surprise that his attitude did not sit too well with some of his teammates.

The Lakers are reportedly still trying to trade Russ before the new season starts, and given all these unsavory narratives, it seems completely understandable that LA just wants to rid themselves of their Russell Westbrook conundrum.
