Tyronn Lue and his representatives have reportedly informed the Los Angeles Lakers that he is moving on from trying to be hired as the next head coach, according to the Los Angeles Times.

The Lakers will move on with their coaching search.

This is a sudden turn of events. The Lakers and Lue were widely expected to come to terms on a deal after the Phoenix Suns hired Monty Williams last week. It will be interesting to see where the Purple and Gold go from here.

Lue made the most sense for the Lakers since he has a strong relationship with superstar small forward LeBron James. Former Brooklyn Nets and Milwaukee Bucks head coach Jason Kidd reportedly interviewed for the head coaching position a few weeks ago.

It's not a normal NBA offseason unless there's drama in Los Angeles. Magic Johnson stepped down from his president role, a move no one inside the Lakers saw coming. LA and Luke Walton parted ways after the season ended. That was a move everyone saw coming.

The Lakers missed the playoffs in the first year of the LeBron era. James signed a four-year deal with Los Angeles. The King knew it was going to take time to rebuild the franchise, but even he didn't know it would be this wild.
