The Los Angeles Lakers are currently one of the best teams in the NBA, sitting at 27-7 and holding the best record in the Western Conference. However, there are still some teams around the league doing their “due diligence” when it comes to Lakers forward Kyle Kuzma and a possible trade, according to The Athletic’s Shams Charania.

These teams reportedly wonder if they’d be able to acquire the 24-year-old player, especially if they can give the Lakers something that would help them win a championship in the present.

However, Charania notes the Lakers value Kuzma heavily as a “core part of the future” and would rather make moves around the edges of the roster instead of making a drastic trade. While Kuzma has struggled with injuries this season, he has nowhere to go but up, so the Lakers likely don’t need to make any big moves.

While the Lakers may not make any significant moves, the team will still try to acquire lower-level upgrades in an effort to bolster their roster. Los Angeles will continue to monitor the Andre Iguodala situation, and Darren Collison is rumored to have interest in returning to the NBA and joining one of the L.A. teams.

Whatever upgrades the Lakers do make, it's unlikely that it will involve trading Kyle Kuzma for it to happen.
