The late Kobe Bryant is one of the most beloved athletes in Los Angeles, having won five championships with the Lakers and spending his entire 20-year career with the franchise. Even now, months after his untimely death and years after he played his final game for the Lakers, the city’s love for The Black Mamba has not faded.

Throughout the season, LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and the rest of the Lakers said they would try to win the franchise’s 17th championship in his honor. When they accomplished that last Sunday by beating the Miami Heat in the NBA Finals, supporters of the team flooded the streets of Los Angeles to celebrate even in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

One fan, however, tried to rain on their parade, reportedly cursing at the late Lakers star in the midst of the celebrations. Fans weren’t having it:

Several Lakers fans beat up the man in the black shirt and shorts after he insulted Bryant, as he can be seen below the scrum while several men wearing Lakers jerseys and shirts punch and kick him. One man even picks up a scooter and throws it at him in this video. That should probably teach him not to insult Bryant in Los Angeles right after his team just won a championship.

The celebrations of the Lakers’ victory all over the city resulted in riots and the arrests of at least 76 fans and the injuries of eight policemen.
