Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James capped off a historic night in which he surpassed 33,000 career points by pulling off a heartwarming gesture to a young fan of the purple and gold: presenting him with his game-worn sneakers.

The child, one of the noticeable few Lakers fans in the predominantly New Orleans Pelicans crowd, was quickly overcome by emotion at James' initiative.

The Lakers forward was immediately asked about it by the press and admitted it was no big deal. James would rather have some young kid have it who could appreciate it more than be ‘intercepted' by a grown-up who likely would just flip it over to some online auction.

As for the Lakers, they just won their ninth straight and extended their lead as the top team in the NBA this season in suspenseful fashion with newcomer Anthony Davis snatching the inbounds pass to seal the victory.
