Only a few weeks after becoming a free agent earlier this month, Donatas Motiejunas was already invited to workout with the Los Angeles Lakers before Christmas.

The development comes after the contract saga of the 26-year-old Lithuanian finally came to an end with the Houston Rockets pulling out their extension offer to him, making him available to sign with any team that's willing to get him.

With the Lakers' front court not having enough depth at the moment after Larry Nance Jr.'s injury, the team is contemplating to sign Motiejunas who has proven over his four-year NBA career that he can play the four and five position, while being a floor-spacer with his ability to shoot from an extended range.

Motiejunas has decent career averages of 7.8 points, 4.0 rebounds, and 1,1 assists in only 19.0 minutes per game. Two seasons ago, he had his best year in the league and was a fixture in the Rockets' rotation. However, he was not able to continue the success he had as he was hit with multiple injuries and only appeared in 37 games last season.

His situation with the Lakers will be worth monitoring in the next few weeks and it will be interesting to see what kind of role and how much playing time he'll get should they sign him as the team still has Timofey Mozgov, Tarik Black, and Julius Randle getting the bulk of the minutes up front.
