Over the last few days, a discussion has been brewing that the San Antonio Spurs are considering trading former All-Star forward LaMarcus Aldridge due to his disgruntlement with his current situation in S.A.

His former team, the Portland Trail Blazers, had emerged as a possible destination for Aldridge on Thursday afternoon, but it appears that they are out of the picture as a realistic landing spot, according to Jason Quick of CSN NorthWest.

This latest development is likely because the Trail Blazers are not offering a significant package for Aldridge. The team possesses a plethora of assets that include three first-round picks at the 15th, 20th and 26th overall spots in this year's draft, along with several intriguing young players.

Portland may have been unwilling to include multiple first-round selections in exchange for Aldridge despite him being a proven commodity and former fan favorite. The 31-year-old experienced a decline in his play this past season, all coming to a head in the playoffs.

Aldridge also has one more guaranteed year left on his deal worth $21.4 million. He possesses a $22.3 million player option for the 2018-19 campaign.

The Spurs had also reportedly discussed possibly trading Aldridge to the Phoenix Suns for their fourth overall pick, but things didn’t progress far in the conversation.
