Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James and Paris Saint-Germain F.C. sensation Kylian Mbappe are collaborating to reflect the impact the two are having on the next generation of athletes.

James and Mbappe are partnering with Nike to launch The Chosen 2 pack, which is set to drop on Jan. 9. The “Chosen 2” will have both basketball and soccer footwear, with Nike pledging donations to Mbappe and James' respective foundations.

The collaboration is also meant to evoke a sense of communal pride and charitable restoration of various communities.

Mbappe championed the Lakers star and said he hoped the partnership would serve as inspiration:

“LeBron is a unique champion and I have the deepest respect for him on, but also off the court,” Kylian Mbappe said, via HypeBeast. “He is an inspiration to me. From Akron to Paris, we are both taking action to move the lines in our society and offer a better world to the younger generation. I truly hope our common message will have a strong social impact and this is just the beginning of our stories.”

LeBron, meanwhile, reiterated his desire to be more than just an athlete:

“No matter where I go in the world, I will always be just a kid from Akron,” LeBron James added, via HypeBeast. “And I will always use my platform and do everything I can to uplift and empower the kids coming up after me. It’s about creating real, tangible change, and always leaving a place better than you found it.”

James and Mbappe are two global icons, renowned for their athletic prowess.

But both superstars hope to serve as role models in calling upon the generations they inspire to embrace communal pride and philanthropy.
