Jorge Messi, the father of Barcelona megastar Lionel Messi, has been spotted in the streets of Manchester, reportedly discussing terms with Manchester City, according to RAC1 and TyC Sports (via The Daily Mail).

The Barcelona wonder is wasting no time when it comes to lining out his exit from the Catalan side after announcing via burofax that he no longer wishes to remain in Barcelona.

Reports say Jorge Messi is discussing a two-year deal with Manchester City, though questions remain about how the Cityzens can pull off the heist with an incumbent €700 million clause in place from Barcelona.

Lionel Messi believes that he can activate a clause in his contract which will allow him to leave Barcelona after the end of the season. But the language in his four-year deal stipulates a July 10 deadline, which has already passed.

There are obvious extraneous circumstances, considering Barcelona had to extend its season due to the coronavirus pandemic putting a stop to the sport for three months before games could resume. The club, however, is fully confident it can win the case if it's brought to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) in the future.

Manchester City reportedly had lined out a plan to reel in Messi with a clause that would allow him a lateral move to Major League Soccer sister club New York City Football Club, so that he may finish his career in MLS.

A move to the Premier League would be the most natural for the goal-scoring machine, considering his relationship with best friend Sergio Agüero and former manager Pep Guardiola.

The duo of Lionel Messi and Guardiola won three La Liga titles together, two Champions League trophies, two Copa del Reys and two Club World Cups with Barcelona before the latter took a sabbatical.

Lionel Messi has scored 634 goals in 763 career matches with Barcelona. The 33-year-old has won 10 Spanish top-flight trophies, four Champions Leagues, and six FIFA Ballon d'Or awards.
