Detroit Lions wide receiver Kenny Golladay has recently been linked to rumors speculating that he will jump ship heading to his free agency in 2021. However, the Northern Illinois product denied the talks and remained firm on his commitment to Motor City which first gave him the opportunities to star in the league since he was drafted back in 2017.

“I want to be here, like the city, like what’s going on,” Golladay said via Detroit Free Press.

He also wanted to pay off the trust that the team's brass has instilled in him in his fourth campaign in the league thus far.

“They believed in me,” the Lions WR said. “And say, if a contract, if it doesn’t work out, it doesn’t work out, then I’ll go somewhere else and ball out and play. But like I say, I’m a loyal person and of course I want to be here. I started my career here.”

Golladay hasn't seen the field ever since their Week 8 encounter against the Indianapolis Colts where he strained his hip flexor muscle. He managed to make it back to practice a couple of days later but was ultimately ruled out of playing due to the severity of his injury.

He only managed to appear in five games this season and was limited to a total of 338 yards on 20 receptions and two touchdowns. His output in this year's campaign was a far cry compared to his numbers last season where he eclipsed the 1,000 receiving yard mark en route to snagging the first Pro Bowl appearance of his career.

Despite his extended absence, interim head coach Darrell Bevell believes that Golladay isn't sitting out due to delayed contract talks. However, the Illinois native didn't shy away from claiming that he desires for a long-term deal to remain with the team in the years to come.

With a dismal 5-8 record this season, the Lions are already looking forward to next season and Kenny Golladay hopes that he can still be part of the team's plans moving forward.
