The PGA Tour-LIV Golf debate has been ongoing since the new league came into existence. Earlier this year, Tiger Woods unveiled his brand new TGL league with a 250,000-square-foot venue being built in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. I was also announced that ESPN is airing all the matches for the new league in what has been a fun new wrinkle to the game.

However, with the league beginning to debut, Jon Rahm has decided to back out of it, and now golf fans may know why.

Rahm is considering a $600 million offer from LIV Golf, according to David Walsh of The London Times.

Rahm is the reigning Master champion, and an 11-time PGA Tour winner. He recently threw out the first pitch for the Arizona Diamondbacks in Game 4 of the World Series while wearing the coveted green jacket given to Masters winners.

The No. 3 ranked golfer in the world roared back in the final round at Augusta National to win his first Masters title in April. He finished at 12-under par for the tournament, outlasting greats Brooks Koepka and Phil Mickelson (both 8-under). It was Rahm's second major championship of his career.

Should Rahm accept the reported massive offer from LIV Golf, it would be a seismic shift in the sport. Even with the merger between the PGA and LIV, this would be the latest in a series of roller-coaster moves in golf over the last two years. Even if Rahm defects, the merger does permit him to return to play in PGA events in the future.
