Los Angeles Lakers rookie point guard Lonzo Ball will miss a potential rematch against college rival De'Aaron Fox and the Sacramento Kings today with a sore groin injury, according to Sam Amick of USA TODAY Sports.

His injury is not believed to be serious, but the Lakers will choose to err in the side of caution and rest him for the game, having gotten two prior looks at their prized rookie.

The two lottery picks faced against one another as freshmen during the regular season and later met again in the Sweet 16 of the NCAA Tournament, where Fox played the best game of his collegiate career, dropping 39 points in a Kentucky win against Ball's Bruins.

Fox got the better of Ball in the individual point guard matchup in both occasions, making up for a regular season loss with a resounding postseason win to knock UCLA out of the tournament.

Fans expected to get the trilogy this early in the Summer League, but it looks like the explosive matchup will have to wait until these two players suit up during the preseason or regular season to see them going head-to-head again.
