Lyoto Machida is starting to near the end of his MMA career and things are getting interesting for him. He takes on Fabian Edwards at Bellator London and it could be a very important fight for him.

Becoming an MMA champion is something that most fighters strive for but Lyoto Machida isn't quite in that mindset anymore. He would like to do it but it's not the same goal that it used.

“I’m not in this sport just for fun,” Machida told MMA Junkie Wednesday at Bellator 281 media day. “I’m here because I like it. Of course, I feel very motivated to start my week and also I want to climb the top, I want to be a champion, but as I said, to be champion is not the main goal. I want to be a champion, but if it’s not possible, it’s OK. I have to accept everything because I already did a lot.”

Lyoto Machida is potentially looking at a rematch with Gegard Mousasi but only if it makes sense. The Dutch fighter is currently the Bellator MMA middleweight champion and he's been looking very good in his title defenses.

“Yes I believe so, but I don’t like to say anything before,” Machida said about another fight with Mousasi. “But after this fight, after this victory, for sure I think Mousasi or the next champion would be the perfect matchup for me.”

It will have to be seen what happens when the MMA legend fights Fabian Edwards at Bellator London at the end of the week. His career is going to go by fast as the end is near.
