Despite the exciting news that came out on Tuesday, where the names of the participants for the Slam Dunk Contest were revealed, Orlando Magic forward Aaron Gordon has claimed that he has yet to receive an invite from the NBA about it, according to Orlando Magic Daily.

It can be recalled that Larry Nance Jr., Victor Oladipo, Dennis Smith Jr. and Gordon apparently have all accepted the invitation to join next month’s competition, however, it may all just be rumors for now. Nance already hinted that it’s fake news as well and not everything being reported about him should be believed.

The good news though is that Gordon is very much interested in joining the contest again to prove that the third time is indeed the charm. Back in 2016, he had a very memorable showdown against eventual winner, Zach LaVine, as he only narrowly lost to him. Last year, he did not fare as well as the previous one, as he struggled in the first round. Glenn Robinson III ultimately won, as he defeated Derrick Jones Jr. in the finals.

It’s still unclear who will be part of the final list of contestants, but with Gordon making his intentions known, it will surely be a highly entertaining one, as he is one of the best dunkers in the league today. It will also be interesting to see what kind of tricks the competitors will have up their sleeves as the All-Star Saturday main event has brought out some of the most creative dunks that has often left fans in awe.
