On Monday, the Orlando Magic solidified their commitment to Cole Anthony, signing the explosive guard to a three-year, $39 million contract extension. The news was confirmed by his agents, Jeff Schwartz and Javon Phillips of Excel Sports Management, to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

At 23, Anthony put up impressive numbers for the Magic last season, averaging 13 points, 4.8 rebounds and 3.9 assists over 60 games. His shooting percentages peaked with 45.4% overall and a commendable 36.4% from beyond the arc, making him a reliable sixth man off the bench. The 2021-22 season was particularly notable for Anthony as he achieved multiple career-highs, recording averages of 16.3 points, 5.7 assists, and 5.4 rebounds.

On the heels of the news, Anthony expressed his gratitude and enthusiasm for Orlando's commitment to him.

“It’s dope, you know, just the front office put a lot of trust into a bunch of young individuals. Me being one of them young individuals,” he said. “For me, just on the selfish side, just, you know, play the game, stress free…Just go out there. Know, I’m cool for a few more years.”

Monday marked the final opportunity for players drafted in 2020 to finalize extensions before potentially entering restricted free agency next summer. Beyond his contract extension, Anthony voiced his optimism about the 2023-24, emphasizing the team's readiness for the regular season.

“Yeah, I mean I’m excited, I think that right now we’re probably further ahead than we’ve been at in the start of past seasons,” he stated. “…I think we get a real test tomorrow with one game against the Rockets. So, I’m just excited to see the fruits of our labor, the work we put in, you know, to be able to show that to everyone tomorrow.”
