Orlando Magic center Khem Birch wants to avenge their loss to the Toronto Raptors in the first round of the 2019 NBA Playoffs.

Birch said that he was very happy for Canada after the Toronto Raptors defeated the Golden State Warriors in the 2019 NBA Finals. The Raptors became the first team from Canada to win an NBA championship. But while he is happy for his fellow Canadians, the 26-year-old admitted that he has an ax to grind with the Raptors.

The Montreal, Canada native told Julian McKenzie of The Montreal Gazette that he is very eager to get back at the Raptors. He is seeking revenge after Toronto defeated the Magic in just five games during their first-round playoff showdown, and three of those four defeats were actually in blowout fashion.

“I like it for the country,” Birch said of Toronto's successful championship run. “But the fact that they beat us. I still am envious of that. I really want to beat them next year.”

Birch will get an opportunity next season after inking a two-year, $6 million contract to remain in Orlando. It is worth noting, though, that he and the Magic will face a different-looking Raptors squad next season. Toronto lost Kawhi Leonard and Danny Green in free agency this offseason.
