Nikola Vucevic and Terrence Ross were in constant communication during free agency and wanted to continue playing for the Orlando Magic due to “unfinished business.”

Both players had offers from other teams, but they decided to “run it back” with the Magic because they could sense the culture shift.

This past season, the Magic made the playoffs for the first time since 2012 — the final season of the Dwight Howard era. Orlando lost to the Toronto Raptors in five games in the first round, but it was still good experience for a Magic team which is on the rise in the Eastern Conference.

Nikola Vucevic averaged 20.8 points, 12.0 rebounds and 3.8 assists per game in 2018-19. The big man shot 51.8 percent from the field, 36.4 percent from beyond the arc and 78.9 percent from the free-throw line while recording 60 double-doubles. Orlando gave Vucevic a four-year, $100 million deal.

Terrence Ross, meanwhile, put up 15.1 points, 3.5 rebounds and 1.7 assists while shooting 42.8 percent overall and 38.3 percent from the 3-point line. The swingman signed a four-year, $54 million contract to stay with the Magic.

Orlando is building its team around Vucevic, Ross, Aaron Gordon, Jonathan Isaac and Mohamed Bamba. Let's see if the Magic can take the next step in 2019-20 and win a playoff series.
