As the Orlando Magic look for their next head, they have reached out to Michigan State Spartans head coach Tom Izzo to fill the vacancy, according to Michael Scotto of The Athletic.

This isn't the first time that Izzo has been asked to make the jump from the college ranks to the NBA, and up to this point, he has decided to stay with the Spartans.

The question now is, with everything that is happening with Michigan State, and the controversy that surrounded the basketball team last year, is this when he will jump ship.

ESPN released a report during the middle of last basketball season about a series of sexual assaults and violence against women that was done by the Spartans football and basketball team.

Earlier this year Yahoo! Sports reporter Pete Thamel, said he believes this could be the offseason that Izzo finally decided to leave East Lansing:

“The coaching situations at Michigan State and Connecticut don’t have the specter of federal investigations hanging over them. They do have thorny situations that could result in non-traditional timing of coaching departures. Could this finally be the year Tom Izzo goes to the NBA? The tumult on campus at Michigan State could nudge him there, as Izzo has enjoyed the attention that comes with NBA flirtations over the years but has never been able to pull the trigger on leaving MSU.”

There has been no indication as of yet if Izzo is interested in the position, but this does seem like the perfect time for Izzo to try his hand in the NBA.
