Orlando Magic head coach Jamahl Mosley firmly believes Paolo Banchero is the rookie of the year, and it's not even close.

Ahead of the Magic's showdown with the Washington Wizards on Friday, Mosley was asked about Banchero's case for the Rookie of the Year award. The Orlando tactician didn't hold back as he claimed that he doesn't even see it a race at all considering how their big man has dominated this season.

Banchero has already won three straight Rookie of the Month honors from December to February, and he's well poised to make it four in a row after another solid month this March. The 20-year-old continues to be the top-scorer for Orlando, averaging 20.1 points, 7.2 rebounds and 4.2 assists in the month.

“With all due respect, I don't necessarily think it's even a race. The kid has done a great job of impacting winning. Three times winning Rookie of the Month. Being able to create a different style of play throughout the entire year. Not just from going where he's handling the ball the majority of the year to when our guards came back, he adjusted to that. Being able to keep everybody involved,” Mosley said, per Khobi Price of Orlando Sentinel.

“Going through what they say was a slow portion of the year, and then bouncing right back. That level of resilience and toughness. Obviously talking about him putting up historic numbers for what he's done. The biggest thing for us is his ability to impact winning for where we are. Plus-10 from last year. That's a big portion of what he's done.”

Oklahoma City Thunder swingman Jalen Williams, as well as Utah Jazz big man Walker Kessler and Detroit Pistons guard Jaden Ivey have made strong cases to win ROTY as well. However, as Jamahl Mosley said, Paolo Banchero's consistent work has put him way ahead of the competition.

If Banchero doesn't win ROTY unanimously, then there's definitely something wrong with the voting. Banchero has made plenty of history this year, and as Mosley said, he has separated himself from the rest of the pack.
