Barcelona has officially completed the signing of Man City winger and Spain international Ferran Torres, who joins the Catalan club for a €55 million fee. The youngster signed a deal at Camp Nou through 2027 with a release clause of €1 billion, with Xavi seeing him as a key piece of their future.

After the deal was announced on Tuesday, Man City director of football Txiki Begiristain reacted to Torres' departure from the Etihad after a short, but impactful stint with the Premier League giants. Via ESPN:

“Ferran should be proud of what he has achieved here at Manchester City.

“Last season was his first time in a new country, but he adapted well. He always gave 100%, worked hard for the team and scored goals which helped us win trophies.

“Injury unfortunately prevented him from playing more games this season, but Ferran is a player we have all enjoyed working with and we wish him all the best at Barcelona and for the rest of his career.”

During his time with the Man City, Torres netted 16 times in 43 appearances. He's also been a star for Spain, smashing home 12 goals in just 22 games. The 21-year-old hasn't played since earlier this season after suffering a foot injury on international duty but Barca expects him to make his debut with the club in early January in the Copa del Rey. He won't be able to be registered with the Catalans until the transfer window officially opens on January 3rd.
