Borussia Dortmund star striker Erling Haaland is the most sought-after player on the planet, with virtually every top club in the world hoping to secure his signature when his release clause kicks in. Haaland's contract with the German side includes a release clause worth £64,000,000 ($87.2 million USD), which is sure to be activated by one, if not all, of the teams looking to bring the Norwegian on board. The latest reports from Sky Sports suggest that Manchester City may be the team to beat in the race to sign Haaland.

According to insider Kaveh Solhekol, Manchester City are currently in the ‘pole position' to sign Haaland this summer. While the Norwegian's release clause sits at a friendly £64 million, it's expected that the total cost of any deal to sign Haaland will cost a club somewhere in the range of £300-£400 million when accounting for various fees and expenses.

Solhekol mentions Manchester City's need for a true striker, suggesting that Haaland would be the perfect solution for Pep Guardiola's side. The insider also believes it “would be difficult for [Haaland] to say no to Pep Guardiola.”

While Manchester City may be the current favorites to secure Haaland's signature, it's far from a guarantee that he'll make the move to the Premier League. It's well known that Real Madrid and Barcelona are in hot pursuit of Haaland, as are the likes of Manchester United. Still, Solhekol thinks the prospect of playing for Guardiola could be too much for the young striker to turn down.

This season for Dortmund, Haaland has netted a remarkable 13 goals and contributed six assists across 12 matches. He's also scored three times in as many Champions League appearances this season.
