Manchester United fans received both positive and cautious injury updates from manager Erik ten Hag, who revealed that Lisandro Martinez and Casemiro are gradually returning to action but may still require “weeks” before a full return to the pitch, reported by GOAL.

Casemiro, sidelined for the past two months due to a hamstring issue, and Martinez, out of action since September due to a recurring foot ailment, have resumed training with the team. However, Ten Hag emphasized that they are not yet match-ready and may need additional time to regain full fitness.

In a recent pre-match press conference, Ten Hag provided insight, stating, “They [Casemiro and Martinez] are a long time already back on the grass and now they return back into team training but not fully, so partial. Now they have to make the next steps and that may take some days, I think even weeks.”

On a brighter note, Rasmus Hojlund is set to make a comeback for the Red Devils in their upcoming match against Wigan Athletic. The Danish player had missed the previous game against Forest due to illness, but he has since returned to training, indicating his readiness for the upcoming fixture.

Speaking about Hojlund, Erik ten Hag commented, “He [Hojlund] will return. He dropped out shortly before the game [against Forest] and so he was a little bit unwell before the game. The day before we expected him to play and then he dropped out shortly before the game but he is back in training.”

Hojlund, who has faced challenges in the league with just one goal in 15 appearances, will be eager to make an impact against Wigan Athletic. With Casemiro and Martinez on the path to recovery, their eventual return could provide a boost to Manchester United, who have faced setbacks in both the Champions League and the domestic league.

As United prepares for their FA Cup third-round clash against Wigan Athletic, Rasmus Hojlund's return adds depth to the squad, offering an opportunity for the Dane to contribute significantly against comparatively weaker opposition.
