Manchester United interim manger Ralf Rangnick is confident about having Edinson Cavani back to the squad.

Veteran Manchester United striker Edinson Cavani has been out of action for more than a month, having suffered from a tendon discomfort. However, the world-class forward has now returned and has already joined the first team in training.

Providing an update as to if Cavani will be back in the lineup in the next Manchester United games, including the one against Norwich City, club manager Ralf Rangnick said that it “possible” but they still have to “wait and see” how the 34-year-old will feel about his body.

”For [Saturday's] game, the only possible candidate might be Edi [Cavani],” Rangnick revealed via Manchester Evening News. “But we have to wait and see. He was training with the team yesterday and the couple of days before that, so we have to wait and see how he feels.”

Along with Cavani, Manchester United defender Raphael Varane also made his return to team practice earlier this week. However, Rangnick admitted that the need to ensure that Varane “stays fully fit for the next couple of months” and “until the end of the season.”

Rangnick has yet to manage Cavani and Varane since becoming the new Manchester United boss. Nevertheless, he already refer to the pair as “top players.”

“They're both top players,” the German coach previously reckoned. “Of course we would be happy to have them on board as soon as possible but, especially with Rapha and his injury record in the past, we need to make sure that we will have him until the end of the season, so it is also about sustainability and not only getting him fit as soon as possible.”
