Team USA has already completed training camp as well as a series of tune-up games culminated by a blowout win against Nigeria on Monday night.
Now, their quest to defend their lofty perch in the Rio Olympics will start in a few days.
The US will be part of Group A together with Australia, France, China, Venezuela, and Serbia.
Time to block your calendars as the game schedules have been released:
Aug. 6: China, 5 p.m.
Aug. 8: Venezuela, 5 p.m.
Aug. 10: Australia, 5 p.m.
Aug. 12: Serbia, 5 p.m.
Aug. 14: France, 12:15 p.m.
The 12 participating teams were divided into two groups with Group B comprised of Argentina, Brazil, Lithuania, Nigeria, Spain, and Croatia. The top four finishers from each will head on to the knockout stages. Quarterfinal games are slated on August 17, Semifinals on August 19 and the Gold Medal match on August 21.
As always, the men from Team USA are the favorites to win with their team made up of NBA stars led by Carmelo Anthony, Paul George, Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and DeMarcus Cousins.
Since being named as head coach in 2005, Mike Krzyzewski's squad owns a 75-1 record which includes Olympic gold medals in 2008 and 2012, as well as FIBA World Cup titles in 2010 and 2014.
