Through the early goings of the Las Vegas Summer League, Philadelphia 76ers point guard Markelle Fultz has shown much promise on the court.

However, the No.1 overall pick in this year's draft has suffered an apparent ankle injury on Saturday night that has many 76ers fans holding their breath.

The injury occurred in the third quarter of the game when he attempted to block a shot and rolled his left ankle on his way up to make the play. He was helped off the court while not putting any weight on his left foot and was taken in for x-rays to determine the extent of the ailment.

The list of those concerned about Fultz's injury includes his teammate Joel Embiid, who has dealt with a couple of significant leg injuries that delayed the start of his NBA career by two seasons.

Although this looks to be nothing more than a severe ankle sprain, it does feed into the growing perception that surrounds the franchise with their core players being injury prone as both Embiid and Ben Simmons have suffered significant injuries early in their respective careers.

The 76ers can ill-afford to lose a prominent piece to the puzzle if they hope to make a significant leap forward next season. More details should be available in the coming days as the only thing that is certain at this point in time in his time in Summer League is likely done.
