It's been a week since the Dallas Mavericks made one of the biggest trades in NBA history, moving Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers for Anthony Davis. Many people have still not gotten over the trade, including Mavericks fans who were outside of the arena protesting against general manager Nico Harrison.
One person who hadn't said his peace about the trade is Mavericks governor Patrick Dumont, who spoke about the decision and the team's future.
“It’s hard to make tough decisions,” Dumont said per The Dallas Morning News. “And it’s hard to make the right decisions when they’re tough. And it’s easy to do nothing.

“But when you want to pursue excellence in an organization, you have to make the tough decisions and stand by them and keep going.”
Doncic was the franchise player of the Mavericks, and there was a good chance he would've retired with the team. He had just led the team to the NBA Finals, and it wouldn't have been a surprise if he was back on the same stage sometime in his career. Despite the trade, Dumont still has a lot of love for Doncic, and he understands why the fans feel the way they do.
“I’m a big Luka fan. My family are big Luka fans,” Dumont said. “I have a really deep appreciation for what he brought to this team, what he brought to Dallas, and the excitement he brings. He’s an electrifying player.
“I want you to know I really sympathize with all of our fans who feel hurt. Look, as far as I’m concerned, Luka is a Mav for life and I really wish him nothing but happiness and success in his career as he continues in LA.”
As fans are still trying to understand what happened, Davis is ready to help lead the Mavericks, and he showed what he can do in their win against the Houston Rockets.
