The Dallas Mavericks failed to complete the sweep Tuesday night, so they will take on the Minnesota Timberwolves for game five of the Western Conference Finals. Below we will continue our NBA odds series with a Mavericks-Timberwolves prediction and pick. We will also let you know how to watch the game.
The Mavericks are up in this series 3-1. They were very close to completing the sweep Tuesday night, but ultimately dropped the game by three points. However, Luka Doncic was able to put up a triple-double in the loss. Kyrie Irving struggled a big, though. Nonetheless, Irving is still averaging 24.8 points per game this series. Doncic is averaging 31.5 points, 9.5 rebounds, and 9.0 assists per game in the four games, as well. As a team, the Mavericks are putting up 108.3 points per game.
The Timberwolves kept their season alive, and that was huge for them. The series now heads back to Minnesota, and it gives the Timberwolves a great chance to send the series to game six. In game five, the Timberwolves were led by Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns. Those are two players the Timberwolves really count on. In the four games played, they are averaging a combined 41.3 points per game, 16.3 rebounds, and 10.6 assists. As a team, the Timberwolves are scoring 106.3 points per game.

Why The Mavericks Could Cover The Spread/Win
Dallas continued their solid defensive play in game four of this series. They are allowing just 106.5 points per game, and that is usually enough for them to win games. They have won three games this series, so it is not surprising that they are holding the Timberwolves to that many points. This is something that needs to continue, especially on the road. If the Mavericks can continue their solid defensive play this series, they will at least be able to cover this spread.
The Mavericks lost game four because they struggles on offense. They shot just 42 percent from the field in the loss. Kyrie Irving had just 16 points himself, and he shot 33 percent from the floor. The Mavericks will need him to play much better if they want to win this game. Dallas needs both Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving to have good games if they want to win. I could easily see that happening in this game, though. As long as they both play well, the Mavericks will win.
Why The Timberwolves Could Cover The Spread/Win
This game, like game four, is going to fall on the backs of Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns. In the win, the two players combined for 54 points, 10 assists, and 15 rebounds. The rest of the team combined to score just 51 points. These two players are the key to the Timberwolves winning. They need to have a good game at home in game five if the Timberwolves want to extend their season. They seem to have made the adjustment and found something that worked in game four. If they can carry that to this one, the Timberwolves will win.
Final Mavericks-Timberwolves Prediction & Pick
This should be a good game, as the rest of them have been. I do not see either team winning by 10 points or more. In fact, I would not be surprised to see another game end within five points. For that reason, I will take the Mavericks to cover the spread Thursday night.
