The Dallas Mavericks came out as the winners of the race to acquire the services of former Memphis Grizzlies guard Delon Wright. The Mavs recently agreed to a sign-and-trade with the Grizzlies, and as it turns out, the deal included the draft rights to 7-foot-2 Indian big man Satnam Singh:

Wright, an incoming fifth-year point guard who averaged 12.2 points (on 43.4 percent shooting), 5.4 rebounds, 5.3 assists, 1.6 steals, and 0.6 blocks in 30.8 minutes for the Grizzlies last term, was one of the few remaining noteworthy guards available on the market. The 26-year-old was traded midseason to Memphis as part of the trade that sent Marc Gasol to the Toronto Raptors.

Wright entered the offseason as a restricted free agent, but as it turns out, the Grizzlies were unwilling to meet his asking price, which is why the team decided to just turn him into an asset by facilitating a sign-and-trade with the Mavs in exchange for a couple of draft picks and the rights to Singh.

Singh was drafted 52nd overall by Dallas back in 2015. However, the Indian national was never able to make his debut for the Mavs, but suited up for a handful of games in the G League.

Singh actually shares the same agent with former Mavs big man DeAndre Jordan. Ironically, both big men have now parted ways with Dallas over the last year, with Jordan recently agreeing to team up with Kyrie Irving and Kevin Durant with the Brooklyn Nets following a trade from the Mavs to the New York Knicks this past season.

Nonetheless, the acquisition of Wright is still a significant development for Dallas, and the 6-foot-5 point guard should have a big role on the squad moving forward.
